With 4 four days to go to St. Patrick’s Day, we are stepping up our preparations for the 2019 Valencia St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival. The Embassy of Ireland and Tourism Ireland have generously provided funding for this event, support which is greatly appreciated.
Síle Maguire, Ambassador of Ireland to Spain, released the following statement:
“Valencia es una ciudad con gran tradición de acoger a visitantes de la región mediterránea, y de todas partes del mundo. Su calurosa bienvenida es bien conocida por todos. Como Embajadora de Irlanda, estoy encantada de que nuestra Fiesta Nacional se celebre este año en Valencia con un Desfile y Festival de San Patricio.
The 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be led by Tomás Trenor Puig – the fourth Marquis del Turia. Tomás’s great-great-great-grandfather was Thomas Trenor Keating (1798-1858) who emigrated to Spain from Limerick, Ireland, and settled down in Valencia in the 1820s. Thomas Trenor Keating’s grandson was Tomás Trénor Palavicino, who was granted the title of Marquis del Turia by King Alfonso XIII for the promotion and execution of the Regional Exhibition held in Valencia in 1909.
The wait is almost over – St. Patrick’s Day is getting closer by the minute!
The 2019 event will take place at Tinglado 2 in the Port area of Valencia. It will start at 1130 on March 17th and will continue until 1430. Tinglado 2 is an iconic landmark of the city and will provide a spectacular setting for Valencia’s biggest ever St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival.
